Droplet

The Droplet Collection is cast from moulds created from 3D-printed forms with an ovoid base that fits snugly into cupped hands. The neck of each vessel is oval in plan but twists through 90 degrees, from the base to the lip; there are two versions: one tapers and the other flares.

The hand painted patterns on the surface of each pot play with the movement that is inherent in the shape, sometimes creating trompe l'oeil effects, sometimes joyously exuberant showers of colour, that ebb and flow with the dimensions of the different ovals. Texture is added to the surfaces through the combination of exposed underglazes, matt glazes and shiny glazes.
