DISCOID

The Discoid Collection is created from a mould formed around a hand-built plug that has a flat almost circular elevation on one side and a tall thin oval elevation on the other. The shape is perfectly balanced, and the hand-crafted nature of the gentle curves means that people instinctively want to hold the pots in this collection.

The open curved form offers a canvas on which trompe l’oeil effects can be explored, using geometric shapes and an interplay of colours to create three-dimensional patterns, some of which rely on mathematical sequencing; others draw inspiration from nature. Texture is added to the surfaces through the combination of exposed underglazes, matt glazes and shiny glazes.

The Discoids stand 230mm tall and are 230x100mm in plan.
